The Italian Embassy in Lithuania organized a splendid event last June to celebrate Italian Republic Day.
Two days – June 2 and 3 – including orchestra concerts, exhibitions and displays at the Town Hall at the Rotušė in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius and in the square in front of it; there was an air of joy, but also of pride and belonging to our country. Visitors had the opportunity to taste some Italian specialties and it was an opportunity for us to introduce our wines.
Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Giulio Tremonti and Italian Ambassador Diego Ungaro spoke.
The Mayor of Vilnius did the honors to welcome local authorities, journalists, photographers, Italian brand companies, members of the Italian community in Lithuania, Lithuanians and tourists who had arrived from other countries.
We owe our involvement in the kermesse to Sologusto.com, which has been cooperating with the Italian Embassy for a number of events for years.
It is Fabio, the owner of Sologusto, who tells us more. The promotion of Italian food and wine culture is written in the bylaws of Sologusto. The regions that it has most emphasized on this occasion have been Liguria, Tuscany, Lombardy and Veneto: oil, wines, cured meats, fresh pasta. In particular, being a native of Pavia, Fabio knows how excellent the wines of Oltrepò Pavese are.
ùFor Italians who have moved abroad, tasting the wines of our country, of course, is like taking a trip home.
Lithuanians,” Fabio continues, “love Italian wine, especially the still and sparkling red and spumante, so they really liked our Buttafuoco Abbondanza and Bonarda mossa Fatum, they were amazed by our red dessert wine Sangue di Giuda, but what won them over most of all was our Extra Dry 2278 sparkling wine, with its oh-so-soft bubbles and intriguing taste.

It was a real pleasure to be able to help spread the culture and quality of Italian and Oltrepò Pavese wine in Lithuania.
We hope to participate in future editions as well.
We would like to thank Sologusto.com for involving us in this beautiful celebration and the Embassy for keeping at heart the consolidation of relations between Italy and Lithuania, including through events like this one that help to remind us of the high level of food and wine of our regions, even outside our borders.
We also thank the citizens of Lithuania for the warm welcome given to our wine, with an“i sveikata,” which means “cheers” in Lithuanian!
