The name Oltrepo means “The Land beyond the River Po”. During the years, the richness and the fertility of this magnificent area have found full expression through the high level of agriculture and viticulture.

The hillside and Canneto Pavese
Nowadays, Oltrepo is one of the most fascinating agricultural reality of our Country. Thanks to the great work carried out to improve the most part of our wine, the importance and the image of this area are increasing more and more.
Canneto Pavese is in the middle of the Oltrepo Pavese area, where the vine cultivation for winemaking is a thousand-year-old tradition. The vineyards lay on the hilly band between Versa Valley and Scuropasso Valley, at an altitude of 129 – 280 metres.
Soils and cultivars
The very steep hills enterily covered with vineyards are different from the rest of the Oltrepo Pavese Area and characterize its production. Indeed, two of the most known Appellations (Denominazione d’Origine Controllata) such as Sangue di Giuda and Buttafuoco are permitted in a few zones of Oltrepo Pavese only, Canneto Pavese included.
On the almost 500 hectares under vine, the most common varieties are red , even if the higher parts of this area have white varieties too.
