Wine & Food: turmeric cream to enjoy with Riesling DOC

This is a recipe dedicated to people who have lactose intolerance :🧡 a tasty turmeric cream.

Turmeric Cream Recipe

100 ml vegetable liquid cream
500 g Jerusalem artichokes
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
500 ml vegetable broth
salt and fresh oregano or thyme.
pumpkin seeds

Once the Jerusalem artichokes are cooked, blend them in the blender with the other ingredients.

Turmeric is a spice of Eastern origin that is renowned for its health-promoting properties.
In particular, thanks to curcumin, it is a powerful natural anti-inflammatory and is also prized for its antioxidant abilities.

Jerusalem artichoke is also rich in benefits. It is a low-calorie, gluten-free tuber: its flavor is reminiscent of artichoke while its texture is similar to that of potatoes, so it is well suited as a base for creams and velvety soups. It also stimulates the immune system, fight constipation and water retention, and has a low glycemic index.

Adding crunch to the dish are lightly toasted pumpkin seeds and lactose-free breadsticks (you can find some online or in specialty stores), but the dish can be complemented by another antioxidant: wine.

Food and wine pairing

Among the wines from our winery, for this recipe we are going to recommend our Riesling Doc, which we have named Essenza: it has a savory streak that confronts the spice of turmeric, creating a well-crafted combination, all to be enjoyed.

🍲In warm weather, turmeric cream is delicious enjoyed cold or at room temperature.

🥵Cold creams, in fact, are perfect for fighting the heat because they are refreshing and easy to digest.

🥄These are quick recipes to prepare without turning on the oven, and in this recipe, you only use the stove to cook the Jerusalem artichokes and heat the broth.

In any case, nothing forbids consuming a steaming turmeric cream even on cold winter evenings, but without forgetting to pair it with a glass of our riesling. 😉
